headache

Many people are all too familiar with the pain that comes along with headaches. The American Chiropractic Association estimates that nine out of 10 Americans suffer from headaches ranging in frequency from occasional to common; levels of pain range from nagging to debilitating. Certain behaviors (e.g. insomnia, excessive exercise and changes in blood sugar), various foods and environmental stimuli (e.g. noises, light, stress, etc.) all trigger headaches.

A study in the Journal of Manipulation and Physiological Therapeutics and a report released by researchers at the Duke University Evidence-Based Practice Center espouse that chiropractic spinal manipulation is an effective treatment for tension headaches. Researchers found that spinal manipulation brought about fewer side effects and provided longer-lasting benefits than medication.
